Key Club students from North Forsyth and Forsyth, South Forsyth and Central High Schools got into the holiday spirit selling concessions at Wal-Mart during the Cumming Christmas Parade.

Kiwanians Mike Webber and Ed McCrimmon cook burgers and dogs while Jon Sarver sells pecans for scholarships.

The Third Annual Sawnee Mountain Century Challenge Bike Ride was a huge success with over 150 riders participating.   Thanks goes to Boy Scout Troop 39, Forsyth  4-H Club, North Forsyth and Forsyth Central Key Clubs as well as many Kiwanis who worked many long hours.  Click here to view more photos

Congratulations to Team Kiwanis at Spell Check Live!   We came in 4th place out of 12 teams.  It was unbelievable.  Thanks goes to Mike Webber, Samantha Polk, Jim Graham and alternate Mike Burns.  Benefits go to local literacy programs.  U.S. Congressman Nathan Deal recently spoke at our weekly club luncheon.

The Cumming Kiwanis Birdhouse Building Team (Bill Keeton, Bill Talbot, Ceila Talbot, Matthew Talbot, Jon Sarver, Frank Felker, Walt Thomas, Phil Eve) gathered at the Talbots for the annual birdhouse kit building project kickoff and produced 60 kits.   Middle School Builders Clubs will construct birdhouses from these kits.  The Forsyth Central HS art students will then paint them.   The painted birdhouses will be sold as a fundraiser at the Relay For Life event on May 18.   More kit building photos     Relay for Life  2006 Birdhouse Building

Key Clubbers from FCHS, SFHS, NFHS participated in the Cumming Christmas Parade Wal-mart concession fund raiser to support local charities.  Wal-Mart generously donated the materials and trailer for the concession. More photos

Forsyth Central HS Key Club led by Teacher Advisor Debra Barrineau assisted Kiwanians Pat Paxton, John Sarver, Frank Felker, Phil Eve with the Adopt-a-Road clean-up.

 Here is my tried and true recipe.   Very easy!

 Ingredients:    1lb Kiwanis pecan halves

                        1/4 stick of butter or margarine

                        1 gallon size zip lock bag

                        Cookie sheet or pizza pan

 Preparation:   Preheat oven to 375

                         Place butter in bag, heat in microwave until melted

                         Place pecans in bag and shake for a few seconds

                         Place pecans evenly onto cookie sheet or pizza pan

                         Add salt as desired

 Cook:              Place pan into oven and set timer for 6-8 minutes

                        Watch carefully to avoid burning

                        Cook until slightly browned, some nuts may darken

                        around edges of pan

                        Allow 20 minutes to cool before eating

To all the Kiwanis Members and Family member who helped this past Saturday with the Sawnee & Burnt Mountain Charity Bicycle Ride:

Edie and I want to Thank You for your HELP AND SUPPORT!

The attendance was disappointing in that around 150 cyclists did the event. This was down from last years number of 189 cyclists. BUT so where a lot of Charity Rides down from last years numbers.

I'll not be at Wednesday Meeting. I'm a member of the GA DOT Bicycling & Pedestrian Committee and will be attending it's annual meeting in Decatur, GA on Tuesday & Wednesday. 

By Wed. Nov. 1 Frank & I will have the final $ numbers.
